• He has been the chairman of a number of United Nations Global Conferences, including the Global Forum on Local Governance and Social Services for All, United Nations Global Forum on Innovative Policies and Practices in Local Governance, United Nations International Conference on Public Administration and Social Development, United Nations International Conference on Privatisation of Public Sector Activities. These assignments have included international benchmarking and research, identification of best practices and working out recommendations.
  
  
• As the chairman of the United Nations Global Forum on Local Governance and Social Services for All he was responsible for the preparation, commencement and follow up of the Forum. The objective of the assignment was to assist the United Nations and the Member States in carrying out the identification and dissemination of best practices in the fight against poverty and social exclusion. The result was published in Arne Svensson & Allan Rosenbaum: “Responding to Citizens´ Needs” (United Nations).
  
  
• Has been commissioned by Sida to analyze in international comparison the Swedish Reform Process. The study is published as a book; Arne Svensson & Lennart Gustafsson: “Public Sector Reform in Sweden”.
  
  
• Has been responsible for the design and implementation of more than 50 top-executives training programs for executives and politicians on central, regional and local level. In addition he has been facilitating or making presentations at more than 1100 seminars, workshops and conferences. He has presented more than 600 reports and more than 900 consultative papers.
